NCBG DESCRIPTIVES
INTRO:Scaposeperennial from a rosette and bulb, commonly cultivated and found in lawns, old fields, bottomlands and forests. Native of Europe. STEMS:Stem a flowering scape arising from a basal rosette LEAVES: Leaves basal,linear, fleshy-thick and channeled, with a pale green or white line down the middle. INFLORESCENCE: FLOWERS: Flowers erect, on stalks in a modified, umbel-like spreading-branching raceme; white; about 3/4 in. wide; with 6 spreading-ascending, oblong-lance-shaped tepals bearing a green stripe on the outside, 6 stamens and a single pistil. FRUITS: COMMENTS: The fragrant flowers usually open in morning and close by noon. HEIGHT: 4-10 in. DURATION:
