INTRO: Erect-ascending, rhizomatous perennial found in fields, roadsides, pastures and other disturbed areas. Native of Eurasia. STEMS: Stems simple or forked near top, smooth or slightly hairy. LEAVES: Leaves basal and alternate on the stem, short-petiolate, spoon-shaped, 1 1/2-6 in. long (reduced and essentially sessile upward), irregularly lobed and toothed, smooth. INFLORESCENCE: FLOWERS:Composite flowers (heads) solitary at top of stem, to 2 in. wide, consisting of 13-35 white ray florets with rounded to square tips encircling a flat, yellow disk of tiny, tubular florets.
