HABITAT: Wet meadows, seepages, bogs, marshes, swamp forests, freshwater tidal marshes, bottomland forests in mesic soils.
COMMENTS: NL (Newfoundland) west to BC, south to FL and CA. Var. stricta (Scribner) Fernald is more northern.
