We are committed to developing the premier resource for native plant images in the Southeastern United States through continued growth of the Plant Image Gallery. You can help us achieve that goal by becoming an image contributor.
How To Contribute
We welcome contributions of high-quality images to the FloraQuest Image Gallery and we are in the process of developing a web-based system to automate delivery and processing of new images. Until this system is in place, please contact the the FloraQuest Manager to discuss your image contribution.
The image gallery is a database-driven web application. In order to maintain the functionality of the web site, all images must be accompanied by descriptive information. At a minimum, each image must be associated with a File Name, Date, Photographer Name, Location, and Scientific Name. The Image Gallery Spreadsheet (EXCEL) lists all the fields in the database for individuals desiring to contribute their image collections.
If you are thinking about contributing images to the gallery, please keep the following image requirements in mind. Images should be the highest resolution possible. There is no need to enhance or reformat your images before submitting them. In general, the images just as they come out of the camera are best. If you're taking pictures for the purpose of submission to the Image Gallery, it is best to adjust your camera's image quality to its highest setting. Do not reduce the resolution of your images to reduce the file size. We can help you with transferring large files.
We offer our contributing photographers the opportunity to include a short biographical statement describing how and why they became native plant photographers. We have found that the bios enhance the experience of exploring the Image Gallery and help visitors to understand what motivated our contributors to shoot wildflowers. The biographical statements usually range in length from two or three sentences up to a couple paragraphs.
