Cultivar Comments: Chrysogonum virginianum 'Allen Bush' is a mat-forming semi-evergreen cultivar of green-and-gold. It prefers medium moisture, well-drained soils in part shade to full shade. This cultivar spreads by leafy stolons to form an attractive ground cover and is easily controlled. 'Allen Bush' is a more compact cultivar of green-and-gold that produces a longer and more floriferous bloom than species plants. The bright yellow are numerous in the late spring and bloom sporadically after. It is a great ground cover for woodland gardens, native plant gardens or naturalized areas. Also may be used in shaded areas of border fronts or rock gardens.
