Nymphoides

Family Code: MENYAN
Genus Code: NYMPH2
Genus CN: floatingheart
Genus Authority: Hill
Genus Summary: A genus of about 20 species, aquatic herbs, cosmopolitan.
Genus Identification: Identification notes: As the scientific name implies, the leaves of Nymphoides bear a superficial resemblance to those of Nymphaea. The leaves of Nymphoides are more cordate, the two basal lobes more rounded, rather than having a rather sharp corner or angle. Nymphoides cordata has much smaller leaves than Nymphaea, while the thickly pebbled texturing of Nymphoides aquatica is very unlike the glossy smoothness of Nymphaea.
Genus References: Tippery, Les, & Peredo (2015)=X; Ornduff (1969)=Y; Wood (1983a)=Z; Burks (2002).
