Cultivar Comments: Long popular in European gardens, goldenrods are now more often used in American gardens as well. This cultivar Fireworks was selected and named at the North Carolina Botanical Garden. It has an outstanding compact form and is very floriferous. This southeastern native perennial flower is very attractive to butterflies. It grows well in average garden soil. Many people mistakenly believe that goldenrods cause allergies and hay fever. Not so; their pollen is not wind-borne!
